Mayor Evelyn T. Uy once again thank the people of Dipolog especially the advocates of child friendly programs after she received a trophy as national finalist to the Presidential Award for Child Friendly Municipalities and Cities (PACFMC) last May 8, 2015 at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC).

The award as national finalist to the PACFMC is the second award received by the local government unit of Dipolog from the Council for the Welfare of Children (CWC) and the Dept. of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), following the conferment of Dipolog City with the Seal of Child Friendly Local Governance by the CWC and the Dept. of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) early this year in Region IX.

From the 59 eligible regional awardees per region per category all over the country vying for the national award divided into five (5) categories, Dipolog was included in the short list of four (4) other conferees (Component City Category) along with 17 other LGU’s, and was validated for the Presidential Award for Child Friendly Municipalities and Cities for: the Highly Urbanized City Category, Independent Component City Category, Component City Category,
1st-3rd Class Municipality Category and 4th-6th Class Municipality Category.

It was learned that Dipolog City received an over-all rating of 90% after the LGU was audited by the Interagency Monitoring Task Force (DILG-DSWD-DepEd) based on the 12 criteria for the child-friendly local governance.

The 3 other contenders of Dipolog (Component City Category) for the Presidential Child Friendly Award were Tagaytay City, Ilagan City and Palayan City. The presidential award was conferred to Tagaytay City, Cavite, Region IV-A due to their LGU operated City College, which afforded free college education to poor but deserving students. Dipolog City was afforded as the first top finalist to the said prestigious award followed by Iligan City, Region 11 and Palayan City, Region 3. The rest of the Presidential Awardees went to Davao City, Region XI (Highly Urbanized City Category) and Santiago City, Region 2 (Independent Component City Category).

It may be recalled that Dipolog City is Hall of Fame Awardee for Child-Friendly Municipalities and Cities in 2013 for conscientiously sustaining its title as Regional Awardee for Child Friendly programs for three consecutive years in 2010-2011 and 2012 and continues to implement the 4 gifts for the children (survival, development, protection and participation) and child friendly governance for the past 8 years now.
