The group who were mostly government officials of Foukuka, Japan, was in town through the invitation of OISCA-Mindanao Director, Mr. Hiroshi Ikeda. Mr. Ikeda is a Japanese national who married a Dipolognon and has been a resident of Dipolog City for decades now. A member of OISCA himself, Mr. Ikeda has been actively involved in reforestation projects of the local government of Dipolog and has been instrumental in facilitating numerous visits of Japanese OISCA members in the city for many years now. In their recent goodwill mission here, the Japanese visitors were visibly impressed with the cleanliness and sanitation in the city and expressed their admiration with the way the local government had implemented its City Ordinance No.123 otherwise known as the Sanitation Code for the City of Dipolog. According to Ikeda, OISCA has been a partner of the local government of Dipolog for the past several years in helping protect and preserve the environment, which paved the way for the LGU to implement its eco-tourism program in the city. Mr. Ikeda also commended the political will of the Chief Executive of the city, by which the aggressive implementation of City Ordinance No.123 has given the city the distinction of being one of the cleanest cities throughout the country today. |
