![]() The new Dipolog boulevard The NSCB study disclosed that only an estimated 23.15 % of the city’s population lives below the poverty line as compared to Zamboanga City and Pagadian City which has a poverty incidence of 23.81% and 27.15%, respectively.
Households with per capita expenditure of under US$1.00 a day are considered below the poverty line. It may be recalled that Dipolog has already established its name as the “Gateway to Western Mindanao” through the Western Nautical Highway and is also known as the “Bottled Sardines Capital of the Philippines” because of its booming sardines industry stemming from the abundance of its fishing grounds. Presently, Dipolog City serves as the “heart of economic activity” in the whole province of Zamboanga del Norte due to its strategic location and the availability of modern amenities that cater to the needs of local and foreign tourists and businessmen. |
