The Philippine Federation of Local Councils of Women (PFLCW) will hold its 7th General Assembly at Top Plaza Hotel in Dipolog City on November 18-20, 2009. Expected to attend this annual activity of the PFLCW are the National Officers of the organization , senior officials of the National Commission on the Role of Filipino Women (NCRFW) headed by its Chairperson, Mrs. Myrna Tang Yao , DILG officials and some 300-350 delegates from all over the country. The PFLCW serves as the national coordinating body of all local councils of women nationwide. Through DILG memorandum 2006-125 a Memorandum of Agreement was signed between DILG and PFLCW forging a partnership to pursue the goal of empowering women in the national and local level.
The theme for this year's assembly is : E-Marketing : Helping Women Help Themselves. The PFLCW aims to promote sustainable livelihood programs through internet marketing and educate delegates on its usefulness. It is determined to create a culture of enterprising women through the launching of the PFLCW website and ePinay Store, an online micro business tool for small and micro Pinay products. The assembly also hopes to strengthen public-private sector collaboration in support to women economic empowerment and promote women economic opportunities and participation in business activities.
One of the high lights of the General Assembly is the forging of partnerships with Globe Business and Metrobank Foundatkon.
The first two days of the assembly will be a seminar-workshop and the last day will include a business meeting in the morning and a tour of Dipolog city's tourist attractions and shopping for souvenirs and pasalubong after an early lunch.
Assisting the national secretariat is the Local Council of Women's Dipolog Chapter headed by no less than its founder and honorary chairperson, Mayor Evelyn T. Uy. It shall be recalled that Mayor Uy organized the National Council of Women of the Philippines twelve years ago. She was then an active businesswoman and civic leader.
The NCWP has a chapter in each of the twenty-one barangays of Dipolog. Seven years ago, the federation of NCWP chapters in the barangays formed the Local Council of Women of Dipolog.City, one of the largest LCW's in the country today in terms of membership. Aside from the NCWP barangay chapters, the membership of the LCW-Dipolog includes other women organizations and NGOs in Dipolog City.
