Dipolog goes artsy, celebrates ADLAW SA DIPOLOG 2015 with a contemporary modern art exhibition.
The City Government of Dipolog in celebration of its 102nd “ADLAW SA DIPOLOG” in partnership with the Provincial Government of Zamboanga del Norte is delighted to present this year the inaugural solo art exhibition of Filipino Contemporary modern painter Bisai, a resident of the province.
The solo exhibition entitled “BISAI UNVEILED” will take place at the Zambaonga del Norte Provincial Museum and Art Gallery from june 19 to july 20 with opening reception on June 19 at 5 pm. This is Bisai’s first in the city of Dipolog and the province of Zamboanga del Norte as well as her first major solo art exhibition in the Philippines. The show will feature many of her contemporary and modern abstract minimalist paintings.
Dipolog City Mayor Evelyn T. Uy, the major sponsor of the show exclaimed, “having been introduced to a new painter from our province and upon seeing her works we strongly support talented residents and would like to share her talents to the rest of the community. We hope this inaugural solo exhibition will inspire many more new and young artists out there to come forward and share their talents with us so we can help promote them via our city’s cultural and art programs which is an integral part of our platform of governance in the city of Dipolog.”
Governor Roberto Y. Uy, the current Governor of the province of Zamboanga del Norte and co-sponsor of the event also said, “The ZN Provincial Museum and Art Gallery is home to the best works of creative talents of our province. This year as we celebrate a stellar year for the city of Dipolog on its “Adlaw sa Dipolog “ 2015 , we are supporting their efforts to launch new talents who have made headways in their artistic arenas abroad and in the national. Bisai’s paintings are uniquely different from what we have exhibited from the past and we think this will give a fresher perspective for art loving Filipino when they see emerging artists showcase their beautiful pieces at our publicly owned provincial museum and art gallery.I invite the public to come and view her works.”
Painter Bisai entered the Philippine art scene in 2010 and has since exhibited her works in several international major cities such as New York, Toronto, Hawaii, Spain and England. While she has exhibited and participated many group art show in the Philippines from the past, it was only now that she has decided to launch her major solo after relocating back to the Philippines from many years of working abroad.
Bisai’s heavy use of acrylic and oil are evidently seen in many of her abstract minimalist paintings. An interplay of abstracted visuals that plays emphasis on lights and hues woven with use of palette knives to come up with abstracted pieces that is purely trans-figurative and evoking. While her strokes are light and consistent, her minimalist usage of space, texture and layering style is highlighted when viewers traverses the overall view of her piece in totality.
She shares, “my works are dominantly light but heavy on the concept. As a lover of anything minimalist, I would like that to resonate to each of my painting where I can convey my message across a variety of strokes and hues in whatever mediums I use. I like to keep things not so vivid but simple and just plain beautiful.”
“BISAI UNVEILED” is open for public viewing from June 19 to July 20, 2015. Viewing time is from 8am -12noon and 1pm to 5pm Mondays to Fridays. Special weekend viewings can be requested by calling organizer at 212-2482 and mobile 09484704205.
