DSC_0058“We, as stakeholders, have to work in unity to provide a safe and orderly environment for both teachers and students. This is an opportune time to show our spirit of volunterism and solidarity to give our support to our students and teachers and give them a good learning environment for the coming school year.” This was the gist of the welcome message of Mayor Darel Dexter T. Uy  during the Kick-Off Program of the 2017 Brigada Eskwela  spearheaded by the City Schools Division of Dipolog held last May 15, 2017 at the Zamboanga del Norte National High School Covered Court.

Welcoming some 200 public school teachers, school principals, DepEd regional officials headed by Director Isabelita M. Borress, ZN Provincial Governor Roberto Y. Uy represented by Vice Governor Senen O. Angeles, and Assistant Secretary Revsee A. Escobedo of the Dept. of Education and parents concerned , Mayor Uy further exhorted everyone, as a community, to work hand-in-hand so that the objectives of DepEd can be easily achieved for the welfare of all pupils and students, in general.  With this year’s theme: ‘ISANG DEP-ED, ISANG PAMAYANAN, ISANG BAYANIHAN, PARA SA HANDA AT LIGTAS NA PAARALAN,” Mayor Uy assured that the partnership between DepEd and the local government unit of Dipolog will remain strong as ever to continually provide conducive learning environment for all learners and educators alike.

It may be recalled that Brigada Eskwela was established by DepEd in coordination with the local government unit and the community, to prepare school campuses and classrooms for the next school year by way of cleaning, beautification, minor repairs and renovations, demolition of unnecessary makeshift cottages, water tank repairs, water pump checking, repairs of walkway, checking of electrical installations, lighting and all other activities to prepare  a conducive learning environment for pupils, students and teachers.

Since its inception, it has solicited the support of local communities and the local government through partnerships that is usually conducted two weeks before the start of regular classes in public schools. (CIO-prr)
